Horizontal in Broome

Cloudy Day at Cable BeachI have reached the end of the Savannah Way and the coast!  Broome, I could have easily stayed here a long time. What’s not to like about a town that has a beach 22km long? Although I did find out one thing when I went for a run one morning……. the nudist part of the beach! Why is it that nudist beaches are preferred by the older man who shall we say, have lived? It was the best run I have had in the long time – perhaps because I needed to keep ahead of the walkers!

Power walkers or talkersA popular time is sunset when people take a moment to sit back and look up at the sky. It’s wonderful to be able to appreciate such a simple thing.  Loved these two women, they had just been for a ‘power walk’ and were still in the midst of some dramatic story while all around them people were holding their breath. Some things seem to be the same no matter where you are in the world.

Occasionally I did leave the beach and venture around. Had a fun night at the  cinema,  apparently the oldest picture gardens in the world. Fortunately the shop is more contemporary so I could have a dinner of popcorn and M&M’s. I think the idea of sitting on a deckchair for a movie is possibly more enjoyable than the reality. Another night I ended up at a Brewery called Matso’s. My new favourite tipple is Mango beer. I blame those cyclists who happened to be in town as well, they lead me astray.

There is lots more to see and do in Broome and nearby , so I will have to come back for that. I was happy with the beach this time round and the mango beer! Although I did find a yoga class one day, I have all the flexibility of a kitchen table it seems. Perhaps I need to relax more and take a break 🙂
